Synapsewerx is supporting our large Rail & Freight customer in identifying a respected Senior Integration Engineer who can play a key role in designing, building and delivering an Oracle SOA to AIS migration.

This role is enterprise wide and will form part of an existing and highly skilled team. You will take ownership of end to end solution design and solution development, contributing to the success of the overall migration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of modern integration solutions using Azure Integration Services.
• Migrate and modernise existing Oracle SOA integrations (real-time services, schedulers, messaging flows).
• Establish integration patterns, frameworks, and best practices across API design, messaging, orchestration, automation, DevOps and governance.
• Build cloud-native solutions using Logic Apps, Functions, APIM, Service Bus, and event-driven architectures.
• Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, secure coding, observability, automated testing, and reusability.
• Introduce improvements that enhance developer experience, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and product teams to design domain APIs and integration models.

Key Skills & Attributes

• Strong software engineering foundation (SDLC, secure coding, automation, CI/CD).
• Proactive “can-do” mindset with strong problem-solving capability, takes ownership, brings ideas, and drives solutions forward
• Experience (but not essential) with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Functions, APIM, Service Bus, Event Hub, Durable Functions).
• Strong understanding of integration patterns, API-led design, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Solid understanding of security principles, zero-trust, identity, and modern authentication (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS).
• Practical coding experience (Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, scripting, .NET, REST, CI/CD pipelines, sFTP).
• Ability to simplify complexity and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Comfortable with AI coding approach and tools to help accelerate solution design, documentation and build. Practical experience with Agentic coding models and tools such as Claude 3.5 Sonnet/Opus, GPT-4o/GPT-5, Gemini 2.5 Pro, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, VS Code, Replit, CodeWhisperer etc

Desirable Skills

• Experience migrating from Oracle SOA, ESB or other legacy integration platforms.
• Experience with the Azure Integration Platform.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps/GitHub, Bicep/Terraform, and IaC.
• Experience in large and complex enterprise ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of integration governance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A strong candidate will have:

• 7–10+ years’ Senior Integration Engineer / Consultant experience in large-scale enterprise organisations.
• 3+ Years practical hands-on experience with Azure AIS
• Integration solution design experience, including all integration design patterns, data driven architecture and security principlEs
• Practical hand-on software design, build and de-bugging experience, preferably with Java, JavaScript, C# etc.
• Experienced at designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines
• Some team leadership experience, guiding and mentoring team members for successful outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate confidently with senior stakeholders.
